Reading collaboration without counting clicks
Collaboration is a sequence of contributions and responses—not a single action. Here is how to measure the pattern with care.
Collaboration appears between events
A comment, mention or share is not collaboration by itself. The useful unit is often a sequence: one person contributes, another encounters the contribution, and the work changes or advances in response.
Measure the interval and relationship between these actions. Ask whether a response came from the intended role, whether it arrived while still useful, and whether it reduced another round of coordination.
Keep interpretation proportionate
Behavioural data cannot reveal motivation on its own. Pair patterns with interviews or operational context before labelling a quiet workspace disengaged or an active one collaborative. The goal is a stronger question, not an overconfident score.
